About the Checklist:
Reading is one of the most fundamental and foundational skills for the academic success of every child in a classroom and/or school setting. It becomes an integral part of improving the communication and language skills of children and fosters in facilitating the development of creativity and imagination in children.
Children with academic challenges and learning difficulties have trouble reading and educators and caregivers need to pay attention and identify early signs of reading challenges and delays in achieving reading milestones to help and support the child better
Eblity's Reading Checklist is adapted from Reading Milestones that need to develop in a child according to his/her age-levels. By using this checklist you will be able to determine if your child/student has met the reading milestones requirements for his/her age-level. This will help you in identifying children with learning difficulties and initiate the process of early intervention by contacting the professionals for early identification through formal assessment.
Parents, Caregivers Professionals, and Educators who are wanting to determine if age-level reading milestones are met for your child/student between the age of 3 years to 13 years.
Although a child’s reading capacity is not formed until 6 years of age - there are some prerequisites skills for reading which are also crucial to indicate the child’s interest and preference towards reading, so this checklist tries to pay attention to those skills to help young parents and caregivers better understand their child.
